Contraindications to Sports Massage
There are times when massage could be detrimental rather than beneficial to you. Below is a list of some of the contraindications to sports massage.

Contagious skin disorders: Impetigo, herpes, fungal infections, boils, erysipelas

Non contagious skin disorders: Acne, eczema, hives

Acute traumas: Burns, open wounds, sores, haemotoma, fractures, sprains, or complete break of bones

Inflammation or swelling of an area: Bursitis

Circulatory conditions: varicose veins, DVT

Viral conditions: TB, flu, pneumonia, common cold

Haemophilia
-
Cancer
-
Parkinson's disease
-
Shingles
-
Hypertension (requiring medication)
-
Severe diabetes
-
Pregnancy
If during the initial consultation we believe massage would be contraindicated you may be referred to your G.P or other healthcare professional.
